Although my professional life has been involved in dance I have always loved painting,
especially plants and natural objects…
I was born and educated in Cornwall where I studied art to A level with a wonderful teacher Christine Oates, a graduate of the Slade. She instilled in me a love of detail and accuracy, both essential ingredients of botanical painting.
On leaving school I went to the Royal Academy of Dancing and graduated with a licentiate to teach ballet. I taught for several years at the prestigious Elmhurst Ballet School until marriage and the army took me abroad. Back in England I established my own ballet school which I ran for over twenty years.
I never lost my love of painting but it was only when my youngest daughter went to university that I was able to enrol on the Botanical Painting Course at the English Gardening School in Chelsea in 2009.
The course opened up a new world of botanical painting and a new career for myself. I graduated with distinction in 2011 and over the last two years have put together a portfolio of giclee prints which are available for sale. I also am happy to accept commissions.
