Carolyn Jenkins studied art and graphic design at St Martins School of Art in London and at Bath Academy of Art. She has since worked as an illustrator and gardener and now combines her two main interests to paint plants and flowers in watercolour.
She studied for a diploma in Botanical Painting at the English Gardening School for which she was awarded ‘Distinction’ in 2011.
She had her first exhibition of botanical paintings ‘The Anatomy of Flowers’ at the Royal Horticultural Society Botanical Art Show in London in March 2011 where she won Gold Medal and ‘Best Exhibit’.
The series of twelve paintings depicting the internal structure of flowers was inspired by the work of the Victorian botanical artist Arthur Harry Church.
Her current and forthcoming work will continue to explore the possibilities of Church’s revolutionary approach.
